Compliance Profiles

Applies to: All subscriptions. The settings apply to registrations whose ERP is Tally

Purpose

Read and, where you are allowed, change the compliance profile: the settings that decide how a Tally voucher is understood before Complifly sends it for an IRN or an e-way bill.

The one thing to know first: where a setting is empty, the voucher is still filed, as an ordinary sale, with no error. An SEZ buyer, a deemed export, an export under LUT, a delivery challan and a stock transfer all arrive from Tally looking like vouchers. Only the profile tells them apart. The Configuration gaps screen lists each place where an empty setting could be changing what is filed.

Audience

Customer administrators and Complifly implementation consultants.

Prerequisites

  • View Compliance Profiles to open the screen: Org Administrator and External Auditor (their own company), Complifly Support and Platform Engineers (any company, every view audited).
  • Manage Compliance Profiles to change anything. Only a Complifly Super Admin holds it. If you are a customer administrator, you read the profile here and ask your Complifly implementation consultant to change it. The profile can change what is filed under GST and an IRN cannot be undone, so the change is kept with Complifly. See Roles and Permissions.
  • Tally as the ERP. Nothing here changes a D365 or Business Central registration.

Which companies the selector lists

The company selector lists, by default, only companies where Tally documents can arrive: the Complifly Agent control is on for the company, or it already holds a saved profile. Each entry shows whether the agent is on or off and, when a revision exists, "profile saved". Being listed does not turn Tally on; that is the Complifly Agent control under Operational Controls (company level, off by default).

You want to Do this
Prepare a profile before connecting a company Untick Only companies with the agent on, pick the company, and set it up. A note on the page says the agent is off; the profile takes effect once the agent is on and documents arrive
Find a company whose agent was switched off It stays listed if it has a saved profile, so its revisions and audit trail remain reachable
Check what is hidden The tick box shows the number of hidden companies

What each screen decides

Screen Decides Saved how
Overview Which revision is in force, who changed it, why, and six status cards n/a
Configuration gaps Each missing setting, its severity, its effect and the screen that fixes it n/a
Turnover classification Whether each GSTIN is at or above ₹5 crore, or below At once, per GSTIN
Onboarding tasks Open work the system noticed, with assign and close At once, per task
Export & special supply How an SEZ buyer, a deemed export and an LUT are recognised, and the export port With the profile
Credit / debit notes Where the original invoice number and date sit With the profile
Movement Which voucher types are challans, stock transfers, job work, material in or out, or bills of supply, and the purpose of each With the profile
Dispatch & ship-to Where the dispatch-from and ship-to addresses sit, and transport details With the profile
Document selection Which voucher types the agent reads, and why With the profile
Revision history Every saved version, comparison, rollback Rollback makes a new revision

"With the profile" means the five screens share one draft. Edits are held, checked against the platform as you type, and saved together as one new revision with a written reason.

Three things that behave differently from what you might expect

Situation What happens Why it matters
A GSTIN has no turnover class Its documents are not held. They are routed as if the registration were at or above ₹5 crore, flagged UNKNOWN_TURNOVER, and an onboarding task is opened A registration that is really below the limit would be sent for IRNs it should not raise. Declare the class as soon as the customer confirms it
Delivery challan voucher types have no purpose, or stock transfer has no mode Those vouchers are held and not stored One voucher type can mean several things, and whether a stock transfer is a taxed invoice or a challan is a compliance decision for each customer, so it is never guessed. The screen cannot count held documents
A required address field (state, location or pin) is missing for ship-to or dispatch-from The whole address block is left out, never sent half-filled NIC refuses a partial block. The e-way bill then uses the registered addresses

A credit or debit note with no original invoice reference is still sent, without it. Missing note references never block a document.

The export port

An export that needs an e-way bill is held until the company has an export port. The port is the Indian port, ICD or CFS the goods ship from; NIC wants it as the ship-to of an export e-way bill, and Tally does not carry it. It is one setting per company on Export & special supply > Export Configuration: name, address lines 1 and 2, city, state code and PIN. It is part of the profile, so it is saved in a draft with a reason and appears in revision history.

Situation What happens What you do
Export that needs an e-way bill, no port saved Held with EXPORT_PORT_NOT_CONFIGURED, not stored Save the port, then send the voucher again from Tally. Held vouchers are not kept
Export that needs only an IRN, no port saved IRN filed; the receipt carries the warning EXPORT_PORT_NOT_CONFIGURED Save the port before the e-way bill is needed
First export with no port An onboarding task CONFIGURE_EXPORT_PORT is opened, one per company however many GSTINs or exports Nothing: it closes by itself when a valid port is saved
Port saved partly, state 96, or a PIN that is not six digits The save is refused with the reason Fill every required field, state 01 to 38, PIN six digits

The screen shows the port in force, whether the saved port is valid, and whether the onboarding task is open. Saving, changing and clearing the port are audited (EXPORT_PORT_CONFIGURED, EXPORT_PORT_UPDATED, EXPORT_PORT_CLEARED), and the automatic task closure is audited as ONBOARDING_TASK_CLOSED. The port is company-wide: a company that ships from different ports per GSTIN cannot yet set a different port for each.

Change a setting (Complifly Super Admin)

  1. Pick the company at the top.
  2. Open the screen for the setting. Change it. The rail shows a dot on each screen with unsaved changes, and the bar shows Unsaved changes (n).
  3. Read the validation line under the bar. It either lists what cannot be saved, or shows the gaps the profile would have afterwards next to the gaps it has now.
  4. Select Save, check the list of changes, and write why. Select Save revision.
  5. If someone else saved first you are told the profile changed since you opened it. Your edits are not merged automatically: use Discard to see their version and make your change again.

Turnover class, task assign and task close skip steps 2 to 4: each is saved at once, with a reason.

Roll back

Open Revision history, choose a revision and select Roll back. This creates a new revision with that revision's settings. The earlier one stays unchanged in the history. Documents already filed are not changed. Documents read afterwards use the restored settings.

What cannot be changed here

The rules that decide whether a document needs an IRN or an e-way bill, the movement purposes and the mapping to NIC belong to Complifly. Registries opens them read only. Some are still compliance placeholders: used today, but their notification and date are not confirmed. A customer cannot change them, and no setting on this screen overrides them.

Known limits

Limit Effect
The agent does not read Document selection automatically The list is computed on this screen. Your implementation consultant applies it when the agent is set up
A revision cannot be deleted from the screen A revision retired in the database shows as Retired in the history
Held documents write no audit row Their count is not available. The gaps show how many stored documents carried the related warning in the last 30 days

Validation

Check Method Pass condition
The change is in force Overview Active revision is the number you saved, with your reason under Change note
The change is what you meant Revision history, Compare the new revision against the one before Only the settings you changed are listed
No gap was left or created Configuration gaps The counts match the line shown when you saved
The change is recorded Audit (top bar) A Profile saved row with your sign-in, the reason, and the old and new values
Every GSTIN has a turnover class Turnover classification No GSTIN shows Unknown

Troubleshooting

Symptom Cause Action
Save, Set / clear, Assign, Close and Roll back are greyed out Your role does not hold Manage Compliance Profiles. Only a Complifly Super Admin does Ask your Complifly implementation consultant
The tab is missing Your role does not hold View Compliance Profiles Ask your Org Administrator
Only your own company is listed Org Administrator and External Auditor see their own company only None needed
"The profile changed since you opened it" on Save Someone saved a revision after you loaded the screen Discard, read their version, and make your change again
A voucher was filed as an ordinary sale though it is an SEZ sale, deemed export or export under LUT The setting that recognises it is empty. There is no error, by design Configuration gaps shows which. Set it on Export & special supply
Challans or stock transfers never arrive Their purpose or the stock transfer mode is unset, so they are held and not stored Set it on Movement. Held vouchers are not kept, so the agent must send them again once it is set
A GSTIN keeps raising an onboarding task Its turnover class is not declared Declare it on Turnover classification. The task then closes by itself
Save is disabled and the bar lists problems The settings do not validate. Each problem is written out Fix each, or Discard
